Description

The largest growing problem in modern times is how to deal with the increasing risk of fires caused by lithium batteries. With MAUS’ pioneering invention, the “self-extinguishing battery”, the fire inside the battery is stopped before it has time to spread or cause major damage.

The technology quickly interrupts the chemical reactions that drive the fire, preventing overheating and explosions. By eliminating the need for external extinguishing equipment, this solution not only reduces the risk of extensive damage, but also improves the safety of users and equipment in environments where batteries are used, such as electric vehicles, energy storage systems and consumer electronics. This technology can potentially revolutionize how we protect future energy storage and create safer conditions for the rapid transition to an electrified society.

Excerpt from patent:

When the battery cell is overcharged, over high temperature, internal
short circuit etc. thermal rush may occur. At this time, combustion of
the battery cell will emit a large amount of heat. If it is not dealt with in time or
mishandled, it may cause the entire battery system to catch fire and even
explode, which can be harmful not only to the battery itself but also to the equipment
and/or people in its vicinity.

A battery is needed that provides increased security.

Summary of the invention

It is an object of the present invention to provide a battery which is
can handle thermal runaway more efficiently than known batteries.
[0006] In a first aspect of the present invention, a battery pack is provided
comprising a plurality of battery cells connected together in a predetermined manner
to provide a predetermined battery pack voltage, said battery pack comprising:
a first housing part and a second housing part configured to be connected
together to form a housing, electrical connections arranged in said first housing
part and said second house part …. more info in the PDF.
