Fireproof electrical installations play an important role in buildings where many people live, for example hospitals, hotels, industries, subways, shopping centers and offices. Fire safety is achieved when the electrical circuit works in the event of a developed fire. Areas of use for this can be emergency exit lighting, talking evacuation alarms, smoke extraction fans and lift systems, etc. The longer these technical facilities work, the greater the chance for safe evacuation, rescue and firefighting. This is stated as a requirement according to SS 436 40 00 (ch. 56). “560.5.2 for safety systems that must function in the event of a fire, the following two conditions must be met: – A power source for safety systems must be chosen so that it
maintains the supply for a sufficiently long time (e.g. ordinary mains). – The material must withstand the stresses due to fire for a sufficiently long time, either through its construction or through its assembly.”
