New Light on the Parliament – the vision, the process, and the results.

Lighting historical environments always involves trade-offs and challenges. How do we relate to the lighting and architecture of earlier times, and how do we incorporate modern technology in a historically sensitive setting? Anna Waernborg discusses the lighting design of the Parliament, which included both the facades and surrounding areas. The lighting has been designed with consideration for the site’s specific needs and practical conditions: it encompasses one of Sweden’s busiest pedestrian pathways, a security-classified workplace, and the heart of democracy. The project was awarded the Swedish Light Prize in 2023.
